My path to achieve the greatest Linux desktop ever or… random IT stuff

About

I’m a portuguese 26 year old nurse (so, really, you don’t need to be an engineer or something of the sort to be a linux user) who loves linux and is trying her best to have an amazing desktop that makes people interested in linux – let’s be honest, people judge by looks. Even me, I went to Ubuntu because of the cube and jello effects… I only got interested in the freedom of things in linux afterwards.
Meanwhile, I may post stuff I find useful for linux users or even reviews.

Lately I’ve been posting more about tips and tricks and useful stuff for Arch and Openbox users too.

Update (September 2017): About to start a degree in IT, so coming back to this blog with loads more stuff. Had to drop Linux for a while (2012-2017) due to difficulties in setting up a dual boot with windows and linux. Will be going back to a dual boot, so expect more content soon.

Update 2 (November 2017): So, my laptop only has a 256GB SSD and while low on space, I’ll be needing my single boot Windows for a while more. After fidgeting with a few linux distros that hated my hybrid GPU, I had to settle for Windows for the time being. I’ll be trying a few on VMs though so I’ll update that later :)

Well… I’m surprised. Absolutely, definitely, totally surprised… I could’t imagine you are a girl -_- … And what’s more you are using openbox O_O I embarrased myself when i see you.. I’m student of computer engineering and even me start using openbox recently. Wow… I have to study hard, i think. :) Anyway.. Congratulations! :D By the way.. Sorry about my grammar(or language). I’m new. :)-

    • Well, if it makes you feel better, I am now 24 years old but I feel like I ‘unlearned’ everything. Ever since I changed laptops, I was never able to access grub again, for some weird reason, and so I’ve been using windows for the past few years. I also stopped going to forums and following up on linux updates so I’m now a newbie (sort of) to linux once again. I’m not sure if I could setup an arch-openbox combo again, at least not on my own x) but the thing is, even back when I was using it, most of the things I described here, I found them scattered around forums and all I did was gather that information and share it all in one place. Also for future reference if I forgot things (which happens all the time, since I’m a nurse and my professional life isn’t dedicated to computers). So don’t feel bad if you didn’t know them, I didn’t either (and I don’t again). Hope the (probably out of date by now) information I gathered on my blog helps you in any case :) And don’t worry about the grammar, I’m portuguese, not english :p I know what it’s like for english not to be your main language x)

Yeah.. Out of date.. Whatever.. You used Arch Linux.. (whit openbox). You customize it. And you could dare all of it. That’s something too from your side. I respect you :) Good luck in your whole life :)-
